Mayoral Election Results - West Vancouver

All three North Shore mayors retain seats

West Vancouver Mayor Pamela Goldsmith-Jones has been elected to a second term after winning by just 633 votes over opponent Vivian Vaughn on Saturday night.

After her win Goldsmith-Jones said there are some pressing issues to tackle during the next three years, including transportation and housing.

"I think this is truly a great mandate to deal with housing diversity in West Vancouver, a delicate issue but the people have spoken that they are not afraid of dealing with that," said Goldsmith-Jones.

In 2005, she was elected by a wide margin over incumbent Ron Wood.

Elected to West Vancouver city council are Michael Evison, Michael Lewis, Trish Panz, Michael Smith, Bill Soprovich and Shannon Walker.

School trustees are Mary-Ann Booth, Cindy Dekker, Jane Kellett, Barry Lindahl and Dave Stevenson.

Mayor acclaimed in North Vancouver

In North Vancouver, Mayor Darrell Mussatto was aclaimed for his second term in office. An ambulance paramedic by trade, he was elected to North Vancouver city council in 1993 and served four consecutive terms before being elected mayor in 2005.

Elected to council are Pam Bookham, Rod Clark, Bob Fearnley, Guy Heywood, Craig Keating and Mary Trentadue. School trustees are Linda Buchanan, Susan Skinner and Mary Tasi.

Elsewhere, North Vancouver school board chair Chris Dorais was bounced in Saturday's vote.

Dorais will be in court next spring to to face an impaired driving charge.

In North Vancouver district, Mayor Richard Walton also won his second term by acclamation. The chartered accountant was first elected to city council in 2002.

City councillors are Robin Hicks, Lisa Muri, Mike Little, Doug MacKay-Dunn, Alan Nixon and Roger Bassam.

School trustees are Jane Thornthwaite, Franci Stratton, Holly Back and Barry Forward
